If his first round match was any indication, it didn’t look like Roger Federer was playing his first French Open match in three years.

The Swiss looked clinical on clay, maneuvering his way to 6-2 6-4 6-4 win over Italian youngster Lorenzo Sonego on Sunday.

Federer, the No. 3 seed, was dominant on his serve, winning as many as 83 per cent of his points on the first serve and a commendable 73 per cent on the second en route to winning in one hour and 41 minutes.

Of the many magical moments that Federer produced, there was a drop shot that he nailed off a second serve from Sonego (CLICK HERE TO WATCH).

The 37-year-old had pulled off a similar shot against Richard Gasquet at the Madrid Open recently.

Moving on, Federer is scheduled to lock horns with German qualifier Oscar Otte, who fired 11 aces to knock out higher-ranked Malek Jaziri of Tunisia 6-3 6-1 4-6 6-0.
