Roger Federer is a positive character on the field more often than not – be it the way he carries himself or his style of play.

On Saturday, though, he had a moment of disappointment during his semi-final match against American Denis Kudla at the Gerry Weber Open, which being held in Halle, Germany.

During the eighth game of the opening set, Federer was visibly unhappy for conceding a point on Kudla’s service as he appeared disenchanted with his effort (see the video below).

Nonetheless, the top-seeded Federer – a 20-time Grand Slam champion – kept the upset bug at bay by pulling off 7-6 7-5 conquest of 109th-ranked Kudla.

The Swiss hit 12 aces, 84 per cent of the points on his first serve, and broke his opponent twice to emerge victorious after one hour and 27 minutes.

Federer will look to win his 99th ATP title when he locks horns with the winner of other semi-final between Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut and Croatia’s Borna Coric on Sunday.
