Novak Djokovic made a fine return to tennis with a 7-5 6-4 win over Kei Nishikori in a first-round blockbuster at the Madrid Masters on Monday.

Despite ending his two-match losing streak, it wasn’t all smooth for the Serbian superstar out there.

The former world No. 1, who is yet to get going since making a comeback from an elbow injury this year, suffered a big howler during the two-hour contest.

In an attempt to put one with an easy overhead smash, Djokovic perhaps got a little too carried away and missed it embarrassingly.

And Twitterati didn’t mind poking some fun at the 12-time Grand Slam champion.

“Worst miss in the history of tennis?” one user wrote. “And the “Worst point of the tournament” award goes to…,” an other wrote.

Meanwhile, Djokovic will look to keep the momentum going when he squares off against either Britain’s Kyle Edmund or Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the second round.
