Novak Djokovic had a hard time during the US Open final against Stanislas Wawrinka on Sunday. Not only was the World No. 1 outplayed in the title-clash, but was also criticized for taking a controversial time-out.

Leading two sets to one, Wawrinka acquired a crucial break in the fourth set. Subsequently, Djokovic appeared to be cramping and called his trainer on to the court, much to the dismay of his opponent.

Soon after Wawrinka complained the umpire about the untimely time-out, insisting that these things could be done during the changeovers, Djokovic turned towards him to make an apology.

Stan, sorry man; I couldn’t stand, sorry,” he said as his Swiss counterpart nodded with a thumbs up. Wawrinka, then, went on to close the set en route his third career Grand Slam title.
