The last time Roger Federer played Frances Taifoe – at the US Open 2017 – it turned out to be a gruelling contest, with the former prevailing in five sets.

However, their latest duel – at the Swiss Indoors in Basel – barely saw any challenge from the other end. Federer, the local superstar, eased to a 6-1 6-3 win over his 19-year-old American opponent.

It was a tough day in the office for Tiafoe. He failed to win even a single point on Federer’s first serve – losing all 21 – and also couldn’t create any break-point opportunities.

As if that much wasn’t enough, Tiafoe also fell on to the floor during the match that went on for one hour and one minute.

It happened during the second set when Taifoe – serving at 2-3 – rushed towards the net and unleashed a forehand, only to lose his balance and tumble on the court.

Watch how it happened…
