It’s not an unknown fact that Sam Groth is blessed with brawny muscles. However, instead of his opponent, it was his own racket that had to bear the brunt of his brute power this time around.

The Australian tennis player crushed his racket into two after committing a double fault at a crunch moment during his second-round match against American Tim Smyczek at the Tiburon Challenger.

It happened during the second-set tie-breaker, when Groth found the net on both his attempts, thereby conceding a match point. Visibly frustrated, he used his knee to break apart the racket into two.

No wonder, the new racket didn’t help him perform better as he stumbled to a 7-5 7-6 (11) loss to Smyczek.

This is not the first time that Groth has showed no mercy on his rackets. During the Wimbledon this year, he did something similar by unleashing his herculean power during a men’s doubles match.
