Every double fault is arguably embarrassing, one may say. You fail to put across two serves, one after the other, after all. Even as it’s a part and parcel of the game, one double fault at the ongoing ATP Hungarian Open was certainly one of the most awkward ever.

Radu Albot of Moldova was up against Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine in the first round on Monday night, when he briefly seemed to have forgotten how to put across a serve.

Serving at 4-1 up in the second set – having won the first – Albot perhaps got a little too complacent as he first served one well inside the net. His second serve did manage to cross the net, but was as wayward as his first as far as the direction was concerned.

Despite losing the point in awkward fashion, Albot was the better player on the day as the No. 8 seed went on to win 7-5 6-4 and seal a second round date with Filip Krajinovic of Serbia.
