There is literally nothing that Roger Federer can’t do, it turns out.

The Swiss tennis sealed his place in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon after pulling off a 6-0 7-5 6-4 win over Frenchman Adrian Mannarino on Monday.

And during the one-hour 45-minute encounter, the 23-time Grand Slam champion showed off his new skill: a left-handed front-foot defence.

“Ratings for @rogerfederer’s forward defence, @ICC? #Wimbledon,” tournament’s official Twitter handle decided to have some fun.

Fans were quick to join in.

“Is there anything that this guy cant do ??? That was a perfect forward defensive shot and a perfect roll of the wrists to keep the ball down. He can Play cricket for SA,” one person wrote.

“A wristy push for a couple of runs,” another one added.

This is not the first time Federer and cricket have been spoken of together.

Besides a couple of meetings with cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar, Federer had previously embroiled himself in controversy after posing with the jersey of Indian cricket team.

However, he later clarified that it was ‘more of a Nike thing’ and that he supports South Africa in the sport.
