Nick Kyrgios was at his cheeky best during his first round match against Britain’s Kyle Edmund at the Rogers Cup in Montreal on Tuesday.

Serving at 1-1 (40-30) in the second set, the Australian star appeared to serve underhand, only to pull out at the last moment.

And guess what? Edmund was already on his way to the net, much to the amusement of himself. Even Kyrgios couldn’t control his laughter.

Kyrgios, who won his sixth ATP title at the Citi Open in Washington last week, went on to suffer a 3-6 4-6 defeat at the hands of Edmund.

He, however, didn’t shy from admitting he lost to a better player on the day.

“I’m a little bit tired. Physically I actually feel like I’m OK,” Kyrgios was quoted as saying by AFP at the end of the match.

“Kyle played well, served well and didn’t really give me any rhythm into the match at all.

“Tonight was challenging; I was actually really looking forward to playing. But I just got beaten by a better player today.”

As for Edmund, he is next scheduled to cross the swords with Russian young gun Daniil Medvedev.
