With his team – Japan Warriors – already conceding an unassailable lead, Kei Nishikori didn’t mind serving underhand, twice, against the Singapore Slammers in the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) clash on Sunday.

Leading 6-3 against Slammers’ Kyrgios, Nishikori amused one and all by swinging the racquet from under his arm. Much to his dismay, however, the trick shot crashed on to the net. He tried it again soon after, only to witness an encore.

Despite that, Nishikori went on to notch up a 9-4 win as the Warriors stumbled to a 23-27 defeat at the hands of defending champions Slammers. At the end of the Tokyo leg, the Warriors are placed at the bottom of the table with four points.
