It’s no secret that fans wait for hours to get souvenirs from tennis players once the matches are over. While some lucky ones get hold of it, there are many who are left dejected.

At the French Open 2019 though, it turned out to be ugly.

Germany’s Oscar Otte – after pulling off a 6-3 6-1 4-6 6-0 win over Malek Jaziri of Tunisia on Sunday – was packing up his stuff at the end of the match, when he apparently noticed a young fan, among a few, desperately waiting to get a memento.

Otte did oblige, handing over his towel to him. However, an old man standing next to him snatched it away from the young one. The video of the incident went viral, with many users labelled the act ‘gross’.

The young fan, however, was lucky enough to get another towel from the kind-hearted Otte.

The 25-year-old, who qualified into the main draw, will need more than a few blessings when he squares off against 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the second round on Wednesday.

It will be the first ever meeting between the duo.
