Alexander Bublik is known for finishing points quickly off his serve. And even as the case was no different on Tuesday, it came with a contrasting effort.

The 6’6” player decided to trick fellow Russian Andrey Rublev by serving underhand during their first round encounter at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

The incident happened towards the end of the contest, when Bublik – up 40-0 on serve – was preparing to serve, before going the unconventional way.

And while Rublev was quick enough to rush on to the net, he failed to put through a return.

The trick shot didn’t help Bublik thereafter though as Rublev went on to take the next two games and seal the contest 6-1 3-6 6-4 in one hour and 33 minutes.

The 6th seed next awaits the winner of Thomas Fabbiano and Egor Gerasimov.
