Ukrainian Tennis Player Sergiy Stakhovsky has refused a late entry into the Rio Olympics that begin next month.

The 98th-ranked Stakhovsky was offered a vacant berth by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) after he failed to earn a direct entry into the 64-player draw.

However, the 30-year-old took to his official Twitter account to share the news with his fans.

“After very long consideration and consultation with my family and team I made decision not to accept the late entry into Olympics,” he wrote.

In Stakhovsky’s absence, Illya Marchenko is likely to be country’s only representative in the men’s singles division.

Meanwhile, in the doubles, Marchenko is slated to join forces with compatriot Denys Molchanov.
