Toni Nadal, the former coach and uncle of world No. 1 Rafael Nadal, has expressed interest in coaching Novak Djokovic.

Djokovic, a 12-time Grand Slam champion, has lost his touch of the old ever since an elbow injury compelled his withdrawal from Wimbledon last year.

After being sidelined for six months, he returned to the circuit in January, but holds a dismal 5-4 record since then.

The period also saw him part ways with his coaching team comprising of Andre Agassi and Radek Stepanek before rejoining forces with his ex-coach Marian Vajda.

Toni, who split with Rafa last year after working together for 27 years, said that he would readily help Djokovic out, if the Serb asks for it.

“It would be hard to say no to someone like Djokovic,” the 57-year-old was quoted as saying by

“It will not happen because he will never invite me. But, if the invitation happens, I would be happy to help him out and go with him to tournaments,” he added.

The camaraderie, however, won’t be the same as it was with Rafa, he believes.

“I will never follow any other player with the same intensity with which I accompanied my nephew, but I could help Djokovic out, no doubt.”
