Czech Republic’s top male tennis player, Tomas Berdych, has set his eyes upon winning the first Grand Slam title of his career at the forthcoming Australian Open that begins in January next year.

Berdych, who reached the semifinals of Australian Open earlier this year, said that he is looking forward to playing at the coveted tournament Down Under as it is one of his favourite tournaments.

“I always look forward to the Australian Open,” the Monaco-resident told “It’s one of my favourites. I see it as an advantage; once you’ve had a good result it means that the place is good. I feel very good there.

29-year-old Berdych’s best appearance at a Grand Slam event came at the Wimbledon Championships 2010, where he reached the finals before going down to Rafael Nadal to finish as the runner-up.

Recently, Berdych had included Dani Vallverdu and Azuz Simcich in his coaching and fitness team respectively.
