Volatile Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was involved in war of words with Kazakh counterpart Mikhail Kukushkin on social media.

It all started after the Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) shared a photo of Kyrgios serving underarm – something he does quite often – and questioned their followers whether it’s a “tactic or a trouble”.

Kukushkin replied with a ‘thumbs down’ emoji, which didn’t go down well with Kyrgios.

“Don’t worry dude, I didn’t need to use it when I was chopping you up in Dubai,” Kyrgios fumed at Kukushkin, referring to his straight-set win.

Kukushkin decided to play it down, saying: “That was my answer regarding underarm serve, not to you. No need to be rude to other people with no reason.”

But Kyrgios was in no mood to back out. “Not sure reminding you of a tennis match is rude. I was just giving you my opinion on our match and the use of the underarm serve,” he shot back.

Kukushkin chose not to reply thereafter. Perhaps should have reminded Kyrgios that he’s ranked two places ahead in the ATP rankings?
