Australian tennis player Bernard Tomic is never shy of roping himself into controversies. The 23-year-old took a step forward after he hit back at comments from Swiss tennis superstar Roger Federer, who had questioned Tomic’s competency to break into the Top 10 earlier this month.

“He’s been struggling to show (it), to be quite honest,” responded Federer when asked if Tomic’s goal to get into the elite list is plausible or not. “Many seasons now in a row we have seen or heard that top 10 is the goal, and he’s missed out on it by a long shot.”

These comments, however, didn’t go down well with Tomic, who counter-attacked his Swiss counterpart, saying that Federer himself is far away from the top-ranked Novak Djokovic, and that he’s nowhere near Djokovic in terms of on-court skills.

“Yeah, well, he has his predictions. I think he’s also far away from Djokovic as well if he wants to say that,” said Tomic, as quoted by FoxSports. “If he believes I’m very far away from the top 10, I also believe my prediction that he’s nowhere near Novak’s tennis right now.”

It would be interesting to see if Federer’s prediction comes true, or Tomic lets his racquet make the noise.
