Defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka stormed into the finals of the Aircel Chennai Open 2015 after overcoming Belgium’s David Goffin in the semifinal encounter on Saturday.

The top-seeded Swiss needed just 90 minutes to brush aside his 22nd-ranked counterpart 7-5, 6-3, and eventually made his second consecutive finals appearance at the tournaey.

“I was really focused on my game,” the ATP World Tour quoted Wawrinka as saying. “I was really aggressive, trying to make him move and make winners.

“It was the best match of the week for sure; a really good level.”

Wawrinka will lock horns with Slovakian qualifier Aljaz Bedene in the title-clash on Sunday, who defeated 3rd seed Roberto Bautista Agut 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 to become the first qualifier ever to reach the finals here.

“It feels really good,” said Bedene. “All the hard work I’ve put into it in the preseason. I’m excited to be playing tomorrow.

“I’m playing really well now. I’m looking forward to it.”
