World No. 1 Serena Williams looked as emphatic as ever as she needed just 51 minutes to rout Russian veteran Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-2 6-0 to make the semi-finals of the Italian Open in Rome on Friday.

The American powerhouse won a dominating 81 percent of her first-serve points and held on to her serve throughout the match to improve her head-to-head record against Kuznetsova by 9-3.

Up next, the top-seeded Williams is scheduled to square-off against in-form Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, who clinched a 6-2 7-6 conquest of Japanese journeywoman Misaki Doi.

3rd seed Garbine Muguruza of Spain also progressed to the last-four stage of the tournament following a 7-5 6-2 victory against Swiss Timea Bacsinszky, the No. 11 seed, after a one hour and 57-minute battle.

Moving on, she’s scheduled to cross the swords with American Madison Keys, who overcame a stiff challenge from Czech Republic’s Barbora Strycova 6-4 4-6 6-3 in the last-eight stage.
