Garbine Muguruza beat Myrtille Georges [6-2 6-0]

Spain’s No. 4 seed Garbine Muguruza thoroughly dominated the proceedings as she pulled off a straight-set thrashing of World No. 203 Myrtille Georges of France to progress to the third round of the Roland Garros on Wednesday.

Muguruza won 84 percent of the points on her first serve, clinched all of her eight points playing from the net, and broke her opponent five times while remaining unbroken on her serve to cruise for an effortless 6-2 6-0 triumph.

Simona Halep beat Zarina Diyas [7-6 6-2]

Romanian star Simona Halep, the No. 6 seed, conquered a first-set tie-break to brush aside Kazakhstan’s Zarina Diyas in two sets. Up next, she is scheduled to cross the swords with World No. 101 Naomi Osaka of Japan for a place in the pre-quarterfinals.

Agnieszka Radwanska beat Caroline Garcia [6-2 6-4]

2nd seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland moved past a dangerous opponent in Caroline Garcia by clinching a 6-2 6-4 win here. Radwanska broke her opponent’s serve thrice each in both sets and committed as low as four unforced errors herself to make further progress at the tournament.

Petra Kvitova beat Su-Wei Hsieh [6-4 6-1]

Petra Kvitova, the No. 10 seed, also made it to the third round of the tournament following a straight-set win over Chinese Taipei’s Su-Wei Hsieh. Moving on, she faces off against American Shelby Rogers, who defeated Elena Vesnina of Russia 6-4 6-2 in the other second round match.
