(1) Novak Djokovic beat Yen-Hsun Lu 6-4 6-1 6-1

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic began his bid of completing a career Grand Slam by pulling off a routine conquest of Yen-Hsun Lu in the first round of the Roland Garros on Tuesday. The top-seeded Serb overcame a slow start to cruise for a 6-4 6-1 6-1 triumph in just 90 minutes.

The duo held on to their respective serves to 3-3 in the first set, before Djokovic drew the first blood. However, his opponent broke right back to make an even contest once again. But, the Serb was at his usual best throughout the match from then on.

Djokovic broke Lu once again and consolidated his serve to take the opening set. Subsequently, he continued the dominance on return and took the next two straight sets to close out the game without any major hiccups. Moving on, he’s scheduled to meet Belgian Steve Darcis in the second round.

(4) Rafael Nadal beat Sam Groth 6-1 6-1 6-1

Nine-time champion Rafael Nadal looked as good as ever en route a straight-set demolition of big-serving Australian Sam Groth. The fourth-seeded Spaniard hardly broke a sweat on his way to a 6-1 6-1 6-1 victory here. The fact that he committed just three unforced errors throughout the match, accentuates Nadal’s supreme start to the tournament.

(2) Andy Murray beat Radek Stepanek 3-6 3-6 6-0 6-3 7-5

Great Britain’s Andy Murray dodged a first-round bullet from Czech veteran Radek Stepanek as he rallied from two sets down to prevail in an intense five-set encounter that went on for three hours and 41 minutes. Up next, he faces off against little-known Frenchman Mathias Bourgue.
