Roger Federer, Milos Raonic to Square-Off in Brisbane International Finals
The Brisbane International 2015 final is all set: tournament favorite and top seed Roger Federer meets big-serving Canadian Milos Raonic in the summit clash on Sunday.
While Federer taught a harsh lesson to 4th seed Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria (6-2, 6-2), Raonic pulled off the battle of nerves by overcoming 2nd seed Kei Nishikori (6-7, 7-6, 7-6) in the other semifinal encounter on Saturday.
“I was able to play straightforward tennis, like yesterday, just really aggressive,” Federer was quoted as saying by the ATP World Tour.
“Against a really good player, it’s a great result. Happy I didn’t waste much energy like this. I’m fresh for the finals. (I) probably got a slight advantage over Milos in that regard.”
Federer leads the head-to-head record by 7-1 against Raonic on the men’s tour.
Meanwhile, Jamie Murray/John Peers defeated the American duo of Steve Johnson/Sam Querrey in two tie-breakers to reach the doubles final.
