Switzerland’s odds of pulling off the prestigious Davis Cup title have been bolstered by the addition of 17-time Grand Slam champion, Roger Federer, who has apparently recovered from a back injury that compelled him to opt out of the ATP World Tour Finals in London lately.

The Swiss maestro will feature in the match-up alongside Australian Open champ, Stanislas Wawrinka. Whilst the latter is scheduled to lock horns with France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the opener, the former is slated to cross the swords with Gael Monfils in the second singles rubber.

“It is not a surprise for us, we prepared ourselves to play against Roger and Stan,” French captain Arnaud Clement was quoted as saying by Reuters.

Meanwhile, Tsonga and Monfils also reacted on Federer’s inclusion.

“He’s had three days too rest and before that he played his best tennis (in London) so it’s all good for him,” said Monfils.

“We always play close matches, determination will be the key,” added Tsonga.

The Davis Cup title-calsh starts from Friday-Sunday next week.
