Roger Federer’s may not have won a Grand Slam event since a long period of time, but that does not entail that the 17-time champion won’t be able add on to the tally in the near future, believes former World No. 1 Martina Navratilova.

At 33, Federer has showed no signs of slowing down. However, his susceptibility to go down to the top players in the finishing phases of the majors has kept him waiting to pull off another title. Yet, Navratilova insists that the Swiss maestro could exploit his strength on grass and go on to clinch his 18th crown at the prestigious Wimbledon Championships this year.

Things appeared pretty dazzling for Federer at the last year’s Wimbledon, where he put up a vintage performance to storm into the finals, before losing out to Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in an intense 5-set battle.

“I always thought that Roger’s got chances at Wimbledon,” an optimistic Navratilova was quoted as saying by Laureus. “He came within one set, within maybe a couple points of winning it last year.

“Things need to work out a little bit for Roger as far as the draw is concerned. But he is still capable of winning every single match he plays. So if he stays healthy, that’s the biggest concern, definitely it’s possible.”
