Grigor Dimitrov has set his eyes upon climbing bigger ladders after he shrugged off an extended rough patch at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati last week.

Once ranked as high as No. 8 in the world, Dimitrov had been out of sorts for about a couple of seasons. He, however, rolled back the time at the Masters event in Cincinnati, where he upset some big names including World No. 4 Stanislas Wawrinka before being edged out by eventual winner Marin Cilic in the semi-finals.

“I’m definitely in a better spot [than last year]. I’ve been playing a little bit better tennis and had quite a few big wins so far,” the 25-year-old told

But, he hasn’t let the success get into his mind. “I’m happy with the way things are developing. Of course, there’s more homework to be done. But right now I think I’m on the right path and just taking each day as it is and trying to enjoy a bit more every match that I’m playing out there.

“I don’t feel like I’ve reached my potential. Of course, I was a Top 10, but that was momentary. I want to establish myself as one of those players.”

Dimitrov will look to improve his record of 27-19 at the US Open 2016 that begins next week.
