Rankings Watch: Wimbledon Champs Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams Hold Top Spots

There was no fairy tale ending to the recently-concluded Wimbledon Championships 2015 as top seeds Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams justified their billings by emerging victorious in the men’s and women’s singles event respectively. Here’s how the tournament affected the rankings of the players.

Men’s Rankings

The Novak Djokovic-headed list has no changes whatsoever in the top 10. Lower down the order, however, some of the players have gone through drastic changes. Frenchman Richard Gasquet, who reached the semi-finals at All England Club, jumped seven places to the 13th position.

The other big gainers include Viktor Troicki (+4) at No. 20, Vasek Pospisil (+20) at No. 29, Marcos Baghdatis (+6) to No. 48, and Dustin Brown (+22) at No. 80.

Women’s Rankings

Serena Williams continues to remain at the core with unprecedented domination. Her top rival, Maria Sharapova, ascended a couple of places to be ranked No. 2. The other players to form the top five are Simona Halep, Caroline Wozniacki and Petra Kvitova in chronological order.

The players who gained big following an impressive show at Wimbledon include Agnieszka Radwanska (+6) at No. 7, Garbine Muguruza (+11) at No. 9, Victoria Azarenka (+5) at No. 19, and Alexandra Dulgheru (+14) at No. 46.
