Former Olympic champion Rafael Nadal is still unsure of participating at the Rio Olympic Games that begin next week.

The Spaniard has been struggling with a wrist injury that compelled his withdrawal from Roland Garros, and is yet to play a match ever since.

Upon his arrival in Rio de Janerio with the rest of his compatriots on Sunday, Nadal remained suspicious of his chances as the Spanish flag-bearer proclaimed that he wouldn’t be at his best, even if he decides to go ahead.

“I will not be at the best level in any of the categories,” said Nadal, who is expected to partner Marc Lopez and Garbine Muguruza in the men’s and mixed doubles event respectively, besides contesting in the singles.

He added: “I have not competed for two months and I have not trained a lot. I will train a few days here to see what I can do and then decide what is best, to be more positive for me and the team.”

Nadal had clinched the coveted yellow metal at the 2008 Beijing Games, but was forced to miss the subsequent edition in London due to knee issues.

The Rio Games kick-off from August 5.
