It’s a known fact that a tennis player’s life is severely hectic. That said, the month-long break in the month of December each year gives a chance to the players to recuperate. However, it seems that this intermission makes them miss the competition as some of the top singles players have committed to playing the doubles across the world this week.

On the top of the list is Rafael Nadal, who has joined forces with fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco at the Qatar Open in Doha. The duo is scheduled to lock horns with Teymuraz Gabashvili and Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the first round. Should they get off to a winning start, they are likely to meet the top seeds Jean-Julien Roger and Horia Tecau in the quarter-finals.

Stanislas Wawrinka, who has been committed to the Chennai Open in India since the last few years, will pair up with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. They have been drawn against 2nd seeds Leander Paes and Marcel Granollers.

Coming to the Brisbane International, Kei Nishikori and Grigor Dimitrov have formed a pairing. The twosome has already gotten off to a strong start, defeating Lukas Dlouhy and Dominic Thiem 7-6 6-2 to seal their berth in the quarter-finals.

In the women’s section, Serbia’s Ana Ivanovic will participate in the double act at the ASB Classic in Auckland, along with Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium. They are slated to clash with the top-seeded Czech duo of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka.
