Spain’s Rafael Nadal showered accolades upon top-ranked Novak Djokovic of Serbia ahead of the duo’s exhibition encounter scheduled for Friday in Bangkok.

The Spaniard, who played out an appalling season this year, said that it’s difficult to equal Djokovic’s level of tennis and to uphold it all through the season is even more intricate.

Djokovic not only pulled off more match wins than any other player on the tour this season, but also capped off a brilliant year with three Grand Slam titles including the recent US Open triumph.

“I texted him after the US Open, but I want to say today in a public way, it’s amazing the way he’s playing during the whole season,” Nadal was quoted as saying.

Having lost to Djokovic twice this season at the French Open and Monte Carlo, Nadal was asked if he will be eyeing revenge or not. But, the Spaniard could just laugh off the question.

“Not really,” he said. “No, even if I win tomorrow [today] it will not be revenge. It’s just an exhibition match.”
