Two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova made a strong statement ahead of the French Open 2015, as she won the Mutua Madrid Open 2015, a premier-level event on the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour on Sunday.

4th-seeded Kvitova looked in supreme touch en route her 6-1 6-2 thrashing of Russian veteran Svetlana Kuznetsova in the title-clash that lasted for one hour and 6 minutes. This was the Czech’s 16th overall title on the WTA circuit.

Besides serving four aces, Kvitova piggybacked on her dominating first serve, winning as many as 86 percent of her first-serve points. She broke her opponent’s service games four times by drumming some belligerent strokes to pull off a lopsided affair.

Earlier in the draw, Kvitova had produced a stellar performance to end top-ranked Serena Williams’ perfect season this year by pulling off a straight-set conquest in the semifinal encounter.

By the virtue of this triumph, the Czech southpaw gets a whopping €799,450 as prize money and 1000 WTA ranking points.
