Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova Set-Up Sydney Finale
Petra Kvitova and Karolina Pliskova overcame their respective semifinal opponents, as the duo are all set to lock horns in a mouth-watering finale on Friday.
While second-seeded Kvitova outplayed Bulgarian qualifier Tsvetana Pironkova in straight sets; big-serving Pliskova looked lethal en route her stunning win over fifth seed Angelique Kerber of Germany.
“Final this time! So happy to play some good tennis tonight @sydneytennis. Special thanks to my serve 🙂 #pojd (sic),” Kvitova wrote on her official Twitter account afterwards.
In the doubles event, top seeds Racquel Kops-Jones/Abigail Spears and Sania Mirza/Bethanie Mattek-Sands advanced to lock horns in the final.
