Nick Kyrgios is more often than criticised by many over his behaviour — on and off the court. And Belgian star David Goffin is no exception as he insists that Australian is setting a wrong example for the youngsters.

“A guy like Kyrgios got to be in the top, but I do not think that’s an example for young Australian sportsmen,” Goffin told

“It’s his way of working, and it works. Now, we’ll see if he can still go a little higher like that, because he has the talent,” he added.

Goffin, who is known for his calm demeanour on court, however, agrees that not everyone is alike.

“I do not recognize myself at all in this kind of attitudes. You will never see me getting on the court with headphones in my ears. But, there is room for all personalities, so I have no problem.”

Talking about his own behaviour, the 27-year-old said: “I think I behave well and have a good attitude in general. I do it first for me and after if it can have an impact on the youngest, yes, it’s important.

“Everyone does not like Kyrgios and those (people) probably prefer more players in my genre.”

Meanwhile, Goffin, the current world No. 7, will begin the fresh season at the Hopman Cup in Perth, while Kyrgios will kick-start his proceedings at the Brisbane International.
