Controversial Australian star Nick Kyrgios has apologized for simulating a sex act on court… perhaps on the advice of his girlfriend and fellow tennis player Ajla Tomljanovic.

At the last month’s Fever Tree Championships in London, Kyrgios found himself in soup for using a water bottle to make inappropriate gestures during live broadcast, forcing the BBC to ask for forgiveness during on air.

Consequently, the 23-year-old was fined $15k, which hasn’t gone down well with him.

“Let’s get that water bottle thing clear. It was bad and I shouldn’t have done it with kids watching… so make sure you put it in the article,” Kyrgios told the Sunday Times.

He added: “My girlfriend will kill me if I don’t apologize and it was unacceptable.

“But Denis Shapovalov gets fined $5k for hitting an umpire in the eye and sending him to hospital. I get fined $15k for playing with a water bottle.”

Kyrgios’ comments referred to a Davis Cup incident, wherein Shapovalov, a Canadian tennis player, accidentally hit chair umpire Arnaud Gabas in the eye.

Gabas later had to undergo a surgery to repair a fractured bone under his left eye, whereas Shapovalov was let off with a $5k fine.

Meanwhile, Kyrgios is currently competing at Wimbledon. Seeded 15th, he is scheduled to square off against Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in the first round on Tuesday.
