Canadian tennis star Milos Raonic has set his eyes upon a successful 2016 season as he gears up for the season-opening Abu Dhabi event scheduled to begin from Thursday. This would be his maiden appearance at the tournament, as he looks forward to a flourishing beginning to his season.

“I’ve only heard positive things about this tournament and the city of Abu Dhabi, and looking at the line-up it is for sure going to be a challenging few days,” 7days quoted Raonic, who will be featuring alongside the likes of Rafael Nadal and Stanislas Wawrinka in the field.

The 25-year-old Raonic, who is currently placed 14th in the world rankings, asserted his desire to add on to his five ATP titles and ascend his way in the rankings, besides making a mark at the next year’s Rio Olympics that is slated to take place midway through the season.

“I’m excited for 2016, I must admit. My target is to add to my five ATP titles and to climb the rankings even further, but it’s also an Olympic year and I’m keen to do well in Rio,” he stated. “Hopefully Abu Dhabi can be the catalyst that I need to prepare for a big year.”
