Kei Nishikori, David Ferrer Among Semi-Final Entrants at Barcelona Open

Top seed Kei Nishikori of Japan overcame a stiff challenge from Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut to seal his berth in the last-four stage of the ATP 500 Barcelona Open 2015 on Friday. The 5th-ranked Japanese pulled off 6-2 3-6 6-1 conquest of his 7th-seeded counterpart in the quarterfinal battle that lasted for an hour and 41 minutes.

Up next, Nishikori is scheduled to lock horns with 14th seed Martin Klizan of Slovak Republic, who got the better of Spain’s Tommy Robredo 7-6 6-4.

3rd seed David Ferrer also moved on to the semifinal after scoring a 6-3 7-6 win against 12th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany 6-3 7-6. He, next, squares-off against compatriot Pablo Andujar in the last-four stage.

In the doubles quarterfinal, 2nd seeds Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez face a stunning defeat from the hands of Marin Draganza and Henri Kontinen 6-4 1-6 13-11.
