He’s had two surgeries on his wrist. Almost missed the last two seasons on the men’s tour. Compelled to skip all the big tournaments including the Grand Slams. Suffers a colossal plunge in the rankings. And Juan Martin Del Potro’s misfortune subsists!

According to Tennis.com, the Argentine giant is well on his way to skip the forthcoming French Open 2015, as he continues to encounter a chronic wrist injury that has kept him out for most of the time since the last year-and-a-half.

Del Potro, the former United States Open champion, has undergone two wrist surgeries in the past, as a result of which he has been dormant time after time since 2013. He did manage to make a comeback next year, but could only feature in 10 matches throughout the season.

In 2015, Del Potro returned to professional tennis in Sydney, where he got off to a positive start by clearing the preliminary hurdles, before crashing out in the last-eight stage (l. to Mikhail Kukushkin). Three months later in March, he arrived in Miami. However, the 26-year-old suffered the worst possible result, losing out in the first round (l. to Vasek Pospisil).

The Argentine is under the supervision of doctors, and might have to undergo his third wrist surgery in the near future, the report added.

Here’s wishing Del Potro a speedy recovery!
