Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga pulled out of next week’s Aegon Open in Nottingham citing an abdominal injury, as his chances of getting in shape before the prestigious Wimbledon Championships suffered a blow.

Following his semifinal appearance (lost to eventual champion Stanislas Wawrinka) at the French Open 2015, Tsonga is yet to make his grass-court debut as he continues to recover from the injury that trapped him in Paris.

“Tsonga has had to pull out of three tournaments now in the lead-up to Wimbledon and I hope he recovers well so he can take his place at the Championships,” Nottingham tournament director Paul Hutchins was quoted as saying by ESPN.

The 30-year-old Tsonga had been incessantly bothered by several injuries that forced him to miss out on various tournaments including the Australian Open in January earlier this year.

Here’s wishing the Frenchman a speedy recovery!
