Jiri Vesely, Adrian Mannarino to Bid for Maiden ATP Title in Auckland Final

Czech qualifier Jiri Vesely and Frenchman Adrian Mannarino will cross the swords in the final of the ATP 250 Heineken Open 2015 in Auckland, as the one of the two players is all set to clinch his first title on the men’s tour.

While 63rd-ranked Vesely stunned 4th seed Kevin Anderson from South Africa in straight sets (6-4, 7-6), Mannarino overcame a stiff challenge from compatriot Lucas Pouille (6-4, 3-6, 7-5) in the last-four stage on Friday.

“I never thought I would get to the final,” Vesely was quoted as saying by the ATP World Tour. “I will try to stay calm and enjoy tomorrow. I have nothing to lose.I always play well against lefties, so I will have that in my mind. Adrian is a very good counter-attacker. I will have to be careful and serve well.”


Meanwhile, in the Indo-South African combination of Leander Paes and Raven Klaasen reached the final of the doubles event with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-4 win over 2nd seeds Bruno Soares and Alexander Peya. They meet Dominic Inglot and Florin Mergea in the title-clash.
