Tennis – American Jack Sock clinched his maiden title on the men’s tour after winning the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship in Houston

The 22-year-old Florida-resident pulled off a thrilling 7-6 7-6 win over compatriot Sam Querrey in the title-clash on Sunday.

“It feels incredible,” a triumphant Sock told the official ATP website. “Clay is my favorite surface. It feels surreal. It feels incredible, and to have friends and family here to share it with me feels even better.”

Ever since returning on the tour after a two-month layoff this season, Sock has caught many eyes with his impressive game. His title win in Houston further improves his win-loss record to 10-2 in 2015.

In the final of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, 5th seed Angelique Kerber of Germany overcame a stiff challenge from local favorite Madison Keys, eventually scoring a 6-2 4-6 7-5 victory in a grueling battle that went on for 2 hours and 16 minutes.

The German powerhouse was rewarded 470 ranking points and $124,000 as prize money for her triumph.
