Is this serve by Nikoloz Basilashvili at Australian Open the worst ever?

Nikoloz Basilashvili had a fairly decent day in the office on Friday. The Georgian tennis player stretched higher-ranked Kyle Edmund of Britain to five sets before going down 7-6 3-6 4-6 6-0 7-5 in a grueling third-round match at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Despite an impressive performance during the marathon contest, there was an embarrassing moment he had to deal with. It happened during one of his service games, when Basilashvili mishit a serve that went straight into the stands.

Head-turning stuff, literally.

The service, without any surprise, stunned everyone, including his opponent Edmund, who too couldn’t resist turning back to see where the ball landed.

As for Edmund, meanwhile, he moves on to meet either Andreas Seppi of Italy or Croatia’s Ivo Karlovic for a place in the quarter-finals Down Under.
