Boris Becker, a six-time Grand Slam champion and the current coach of World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, heaped rich praise on rising Australian star Nick Kyrgios, labeling him as a ‘future champion’ and the ‘most talented’ young gun.

“Nick Kyrgios is a future champion. I watch him very closely,” Becker was quoted as saying by Fox Sports. “If you play him in a tournament, he’s a tough competitor. He is not someone who is beaten easily. He’s very colourful. He’s a character.

“He is the most talented of the young guns. He’s got a big game, a big serve, he loves the big stage.”

As much in headlines for his notorious behavior, Kyrgios has often come under the scanner for his antics on and off the court. But, Becker believes that the 20-year-old would mature with time.

“I think people talk a lot about him at the moment a bit too much for his outbursts than his performances. But I think that will change. I think he’s got maturity problems, but he’s 20. You know, what do you expect?

“He’s still a young man, and he still has to find his feet. He has to control his emotions better than he does.”

Meanwhile, Kyrgios is currently in Indian Wells for the Masters event there. Seeded 34th, he’s scheduled to cross the swords with Spain’s Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round of the tournament.
