French Open 2014 Predictions

We are all set for the clay tennis season to hit the peak in 2014, Aussie open winner Stanislas Wawrinka is having a massive 2014 season and after his first grand slam win in January, he is going strong by winning Monte Carlo event this week beating Roger Federer in the final and will be one of the favourites to go all the way in the men’s singles.

Men’s Single Predictions:

Looking at the last year and this year results three names comes to mind who will be bookies favourites to go all the way come 8th June, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka.

Rafael Nadal live stream 2014Rafael Nadal – To win his 9th French Open

Nadal is by far the greatest clay court player we have seen in tennis, he has won the most french open titles in the history and I expect him to add another in the 2014.

Nadal is near unbeatable on clay but Djokovic is getting closer every year and If Nadal is going to win the title he will definately face Djokovic either in the semifinals or the finals and we can expect one off those never ending match again.

Rafael Nadal is 8/11 favourite to win the French Open with the bookies.

Novak Djokovic – Another epic nadal battle on the cards

Djokovic has kind of tamed down since 2013, he lost against Nadal after an epic battle which could have gone either way in the semifinal of 2013 french open, and than the final against Andy Murray where he was fighting against all odds.

while I am writing this early predictions, Djokovic is struggling to make it to the Madrid master event due to wrist injury and his success depend alot on how he tackles it. But overall he should have a good French Open. Having said that he has the best chance of winning it after Nadal.

Stanislas Wawrinka live streamStanislas Wawrinka – A Surprise Package ?

Wawrinka is defing odds this year, winning aussie open, beating hot favourite Nadal in the final and now getting Federer’s number in monte carlo. He is someone who can pull of a “soderling” against Nadal this year if the pair meet. But he needs to catch Nadal on one of the off days which are very rare at clay.

So a semifinal loss against either Nadala or Djokovic what I am predicting for Wawrinka who is 8/1 favourite to win French Open outright. (A good outside bet in my opinion)

[ In part two we will be looking at the ladies single predictions and preview.
