Swiss star Stanislas Wawrinka clinched his second Grand Slam title after outshining top-ranked Serbian Novak Djokovic in the title-clash of the prestigious French Open 2015. Wawrinka rallied from a set down to bombshell Djokovic with a 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-4 win on Sunday here.

Albeit Djokovic pulled off the opening set, Wawrinka was the one who subjugated the remainder of the match. The Australian Open champion shrugged off the ‘underdog’ tag by producing potent shots that tested Djokovic’s suppleness. The latter tried his best to reach around all the corners, but Wawrinka proved too hot to handle ultimately.

In the women’s final, World No. 1 Serena Williams clamped a ceiling on Czech journeywoman Lucie Safarova’s dream run to register her 20th major title.

The American powerhouse prevailed over her illness issues to overcome a spirited resistance, eventually scoring a 6-3 6-7 6-2 triumph.

Meanwhile, Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo won the men’s doubles title, while the women’s doubles crown was lifted by Lucie Safarova and Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
