Just a few days ago, the city of Chennai in India was going through a rough patch as hundreds of people lost their lives due to heavy floods. But, there’s finally some good news for the residents there as they gear up for South Asia’s only ATP event at the Chennai Open 2016 that begins from Monday.

Adding to the cause, the tournament has linked up with country’s ace tennis player Leander Paes to lend a helping hand towards the affected. In a kind gesture, the tournament today announced that Paes will donate 1000 INR for every ace and winner he hits at the 20th edition of the ATP 250 event here.

“We’re celebrating 20 years in Chennai & have a host of initiatives to raise funds for the CM’s Relief Fund #ACOCares,” the tournament mentioned on its official Twitter handle. [email protected] will donate Rs.1000 for every winner and ace he hits at #ACO2016 #ACOCares,” it added.

Meanwhile, Paes has joined forces with Spain’s Marcel Granollers for the doubles event with the duo being seeded second. They are scheduled to cross the swords with a formidable Swiss-Spanish duo of Stanislas Wawrinka and Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round here.
