Family Circle Cup: Petkovic, Kerber, Jakovic Labor into Quarter-Finals
It was an arduous day in the office for the seeds at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston on Tuesday. But, they somehow administered to get past their respective second-round opponents to make it through to the quarterfinals.
3rd seed Andrea Petkovic rallied from a first-set blackout to pull off a 1-6 6-1 6-2 conquest of South African journeywoman Chanelle Scheepers. With the exception of the opening set, the 11th-ranked German looked in preeminent touch to get past her adversary in an hour and 50 minutes.
Besides, 5th seed Angelique Kerber, 6th seed Jelena Jankovic , and 8th seed Caroline Garcia also moved on to the last-eight stage, following three-set victories over their respective second-round counterparts.
