Top seed and defending champion, Stanislas Wawrinka, eased his way to the quarterfinals of the Aircel Chennai Open in India.

Wawrinka, the reigning Australian Open champion, shrugged off little resistance from Croatian teen, Borna Coric, en route his 6-1, 6-4 in the second-round encounter on Wednesday.

The Swiss star looked all keyed up after his win, when he was asked to smash a few autographed tennis balls in the crowd with a cricket bat.

In the other singles match-ups, 4th seed David Goffin sneaked past Ricardas Berankis (6-0, 4-6, 7-6); 8th seed Gilles Muller defeated Elias Ymer (6-4, 6-3); and Andreas Haider-Maurer overcame Jiri Vesely (6-7, 6-4, 6-4).
