Andy Murray may be enjoying a better head-to-head record and he may be a higher-ranked player than Spain’s David Ferrer, but the Briton is vigilant ahead of the duo’s quarterfinal encounter at the prestigious French Open 2015.

3rd-ranked Murray has been in his best of the forms of late. However, he seems well aware of the potential menace he could face from the hands of World No. 8 Ferrer, who is known to be a clay-court specialist.

“It’s going to be a tough match because he’s one of the best players in the world,” a cautious Murray was quoted as saying by Daily Mail. “On this surface he’s for sure of one of the top four or five players in the world.”

“I’m going to have to work extremely hard in that match and be very patient and try to dictate the play as much as I can,” he added.

Ahead of their Wednesday’s last-eight battle, Murray enjoys a 9-6 record over Ferrer, who has however, won 4 off their 5 head-to-head meetings on the dirt.

It won’t be an easy passage hereafter, as the winner of this match up will be scheduled to cross the swords with either World No. 1 Novak Djokovic or ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal in the semifinals.
