There’s been one thing about Stefanos Tsitsipas that has caught many an eye in his recent matches, apart from his sizzling form, of course.

The Greek youngster has struggled with his shoes, often taking breaks midway to put on a new one at the ongoing Citi Open in Washington. Even as his last two opponents, Jordan Thompson and Tommy Paul, didn’t object to it, his latest nemesis Benoit Paire wasn’t happy to see it happen for the third time in as many days.

After Tsitsipas went off for a shoe changeover on Friday, Paire fumed at the chair umpire, apparently accusing the former of taking needless intervals.

When the umpire paid to heed to it, Paire decided to take the matter in his own hands as he took a pause to change his shoes… to mock Tsitsipas, of course.

The duo, however, showed no grudge at the net as they shared a warm embrace following Tsitsipas’ 7-5 6-0 conquest of Paire.

No wonder, Tsitsipas laughed off the incident during the post-match press conference. “That was funny. I didn’t know whether I have to laugh or keep a serious face. It was hilarious,” he was quoted as saying by ATP World Tour.

He will next face Australian star Nick Kyrgios in the semi-finals on Saturday.
