World No. 8 Belinda Bencic failed to recover in time from a back injury as she’s been compelled to pull out of the next week’s Roland Garros 2016.

The 19-year-old Bencic has been struggling with an injury to her back that has continued to break off her tennis schedule this year.

The Swiss returned to action in Indian Wells in March after a layoff of over a fortnight. She, then, played in Miami a week later but withdrew from her first-round match halfway through the opening set.

Subsequently, the clay-court event in Charleston marked her return in April, but a first-round exit there accentuated her injury once again, and she’s yet to play a tournament ever since.

American Lauren Davis, the World No. 115, has been named as the replacement in the draw.
