He stood at the other side of the net against him for 17 times, fighting his heart out to clinch an elusive win. He tried it every time, but could just go down fighting. Not that he didn’t strive hard to triumph, but that his counterpart was too good for him to handle. But, the story didn’t last forever!

Having lost 17 matches against Rafael Nadal in as many encounters, Tomas Berdych came in to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open 2015 with a purpose to end his losing streak. He looked solid, he looked like never before, as he pumped his fist hard, having beaten the Spaniard at the infamous Rod Laver Arena.

It was a comprehensive 6-0 6-2 7-6 triumph. The Czech veteran looked lethal in the first two sets, leaking away just 2 games, and stood firm on his serve in the third set to pull off the encounter in straight sets! Incredible, isn’t it?

Moving on, Berdych will look to ride on his confidence in the last-four stage, where he either meets 6th seed Andy Murray or local favorite Nick Kyrgios.
